Welcome to my welding page!

You are likely asking yourself “Isn’t this guy an accountant? What has that got to do with welding?” Well, not much truth be told. But I am first and foremost a builder, as we used to say in AWS. I think I always have been. As a child I used to love building things, all kinds of things. I used to build tree houses, crystal radio sets, all kinds of inventions from parts that I could scrounge from broken toys, go karts, etc. Plus they taught welding in shop class in middle school.

I also have this streak in me where I need to master things. When I start to learn a new subject, hobby, etc. I am not satisfied until I feel like I have achieved a certain level of mastery. Welding was like that for me. I struggled with fixed shade welding helmets as a kid and the advent of auto darkening welding helmets, really changed things. So welding became something for me to conquer.

I don’t use my welder to build things as much as I used to as work has kind of eaten up all my time lately (that and my home lab hobby). I am a bit of a serial hobbyist. I can only go deep on one thing at a time in my spare time. But I still have a number of projects I want to build with my welder, mainly barbecues and smokers.
