My interest in radio and electronics began at a very early age. My dad was a volunteer firefighter even before I was born and he always had a Plectron emergency alerting receiver in the house ever since I can remember. When I was 10 or 11 years old Santa Clause brought me a Radio Shack “150 in One” electronics kit.

That kit got me started in a lifelong interest in radio and electronics. For years, I always had (and still have) a house full of police scanners. Having been a firefighter and paramedic, I am always acutely interested in keeping tabs on all of the goings on in town. In 2015, I finally took the leap and began the process of becoming a licensed amateur (ham) radio operator. My ham radio license/call sign is N1LOU and you can read more about my station here: https://www.qrz.com/db/n1lou
