Please forgive me if this blog is imperfect at the moment. I am writing this in order to learn WordPress so I can help my wife, Lee-Ann, start her food blog. This is very much a learning experience for me
I decided to write a blog about my hobbies, and mostly about my most recent hobby, setting up and running a home lab.
I will also eventually have blog categories (and pictures) about my other hobbies. These include dogs (we are English Springer Spaniel fans!!), amateur (ham) radio, fly fishing, boating, hunting (mostly pheasant hunting), metal work/welding
A bit about my background: I started my professional life as a firefighter/emergency medical technician. Later I became a paramedic in the first paramedic class offered by Mattatuck Community College in 1986 (now Naugatuck Valley Community College). I got my start by following in my dad’s foot steps with the Middlebury CT Volunteer Fire Department for almost 10 years. When I moved out of town I had to resign from that organization. I worked in EMS full time from 1980-1991, and part time after that until 1995. I let my paramedic license lapse in 1997, because it was too much to keep up a CPA license and a paramedic license at the same time. I worked for a bunch of different organizations most paid, some volunteer, including Maple Hill Ambulance, Professional Ambulance, L&M Ambulance (before the merger), Bristol Hospital, New Britain EMS, Medstar Ambulance, Rocky Hill Ambulance, Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. I was also a certified firefighter I and II and worked as a paid fire fighter part time in Waterford (Cohanzie Company 5)
In 1990, I went back to school and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of CT in 1993, with a major in Accounting. I became a Certified Public Accountant in 1997, and I have held a wide variety of roles since then. You can check out my LinkedIn page below if you want to know more about that.
